U p d a t e 2011 Palm Sunday Jesus Parade 20th year 4/9/11

The Palm Sunday Jesus Parade is taking shape early for this 20th year event on April 17th. There are numbers of people already committed to participate with a grass roots drama presentation depicting 8 aspects of Jesus' life as the parade moves through Port Townsend on Water Street.

People from Grace Christian Center of Port Ludlow, New Life Assembly, Beacon Light Center of Port Hadlock, New Song Foursquare, New Day Learning Academy & San Juan Baptist from Port Townsend along with Sequim Vineyard and Sequim Valley Foursquare & The Crossing Church of Port Angeles & Sequim are among those churches and groups who will be participating.

Sequim Vineyard is planning to provide live worship music again this year with members from their church. Dale Brown-musician/apologist & wife Peggy from Prosser Washington will again provide live original blues style Christian music on a float. Irene Phillips of Sequim Valley Foursquare church will present a unique presentation of Elvis singing Christian songs. Other members of this church will be involved in the drama. Frank Tyler of The Crossing Church will be bringing 500 copies of the Gospel of John to pass out for this event and others.

There will be people carrying scripture banners to highlight aspects of Jesus' life including the birth, the baptism, Jesus with the children, Jesus the healer, Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a motorcycle, the crucifixion, resurrection & the returning victorious King Jesus riding in a white convertible(couldn't find a white horse).

Other participants will, pray & pass out Christian literature along the parade route. This is an evangelistic outreach to the citizens and visitors to our community and beyond. Jesus balloons will be available for children.

There is still plenty of room available for anyone who would like to walk, march, or ride their bicycle, motorcycle, horse in the parade or just come down and watch. The parade participants will begin to gather between 2-2:30 pm at Townsite Plaza across from the ferry dock Sunday april 17th.

After the short parade starting at 3pm sharp the participants will go to Adams Street park(next to Nifty 50's) for barbeque hotdogs & punch. An open mic will be made available as well.
